Carefree’s favourite spots to watch the sunset on Ibiza

Ibiza might have the most magical sunset spots of Europe. The whole team of Carefree Ibiza are true sunset lovers. That’s why we are happy to share our favourite spots to see the sun go down. We’ve selected five completely different locations, all unique and impressive in their own way. That’s why we recommend trying them all when you return to la isla bonita.

Bon Sol, Cala Vadella

Besides the fact that this beach is almost our backyard, it’s a fabulous family beach with epic sunset views. The secluded bay situated between the rocks has the best sunsetviews from May till September. Bon Sol is a typical laidback Italian restaurant without a chique dresscode. They do not mind if you enter their restaurant in your swimwear with sandy feet. But if you prefer to eat it on the beach, you can have it for take away as well. And when you are able to enjoy the sunset it with a delicious slice of pizza or pasta with salty hair and happy hearts, you are certainly making memories.

El Carmen, Cala d’hort

The magical rock Es Vedra is even more special when you see it with the sun going down. That’s why we try to visit Cala d’Hort frequently. It always brings some extra peace and happiness. Obviously a paella is a typical Spanish course you want to taste at least once during your time on the island. Restaurant El Carmen is without doubt a fabulous choice to go to. Sitting at one of the wooden tables on the high terrace with an unbeatable view on Es Vedra and the sunset is a night you won’t remember easily.
If you prefer to see the same epic sunset but want to have dinner later? Go to watch tower in front of Es Vedra called Torre des Savinar, a few minutes driving from the beach Cala d’hort. Make sure you are there on time to fully experience the golden hour before the sun goes down.

Cala Escondida, close to Cala Comte

If you love a hippy vibe, this is your place. Cala Escondida actually is the most sustainable chiringuito on the island. It’s situated in a charming little bay near Cala Comte. Don’t expect a big or luxurious menu, but the views, vibe and super friendly staff are certainly worthwhile to visit this place. You can expect a delicious chicken wrap in your left hand with a fresh mojito in your right hand that comes with a front row sea view. And if you are lucky you might even have some live music with a guitar or drums and feel the waves almost touching your feet. We promise you, there is absolutely nothing else you will desire at this point.

Hostal La Torre, Cap Negret

Right above the coastline of the well-known Sunsetstrip where the younger party people go, we prefer this stunningly based restaurants on the rocks. Hostal La Torre is a lovely restaurant that serves good tapas food on the main terrace, but also on unique terraces with lots of privacy for a romantic night out together. The dj creates the perfect atmosphere with his music while the sun goes down and makes the moment even more pleasant. Even if you decide not to have dinner here, bring your own bottle of wine and find yourself a spot on the rocks lower under the restaurant. We love this spot for it’s rough and untouched rocky spots with 180 degrees view on the sunset. You might even be rewarded by seeing dolphins swimming, as we saw once here.

Cotton Beach Club, Cala Tarida

This flawless ultra white beach club is situated on the rocks above Cala Tarida. A luxurious beach club with a Mediterranean menu where the white and turquoise views are brighter than you have ever seen before. Perfect restaurant for a romantic sunset dinner with your loved one, but not really recommended with young kids. The food is delicious but the views and atmosphere are where it’s all about. A few days a week they offer live music with singers or dj’s. It’s has always been very pleasant to come here, but last year in 2020, they didn’t open at all due to the civid-restrictions. We can’t wait until they’re open again.  Believe us, the color white can be pretty intense with the Ibizan sun, so if you decide to come here during daytime, bring your sunglasses.

See you soon

And if we may give you one final recommendation, do not forget to clap your hands when the sun goes down, as these precious moments on Ibiza needs to be celebrated as much as we can. Especially in 2021. We can’t wait to see you back on the island!
